Opinions-comments-remarks – Suddenly, there was a lot of «spirit» and «culture»!
Since the issue of the «Alimos Cultural Center» has been on our minds a lot lately, let's check out some interesting and curious facts.
It goes without saying that this is not going to happen here. I will not go into the legal issues of ownership, donation, and related matters, as these are handled by those with the relevant expertise.
What concerned me was that all of a sudden there were so many enthusiasts of the spirit—and here I am referring mainly to Kythirians, Because for the others, I can only make simple assumptions—those who say that 150 square meters of a Cultural Center is not enough for them, but they want somewhere around 4,000 square meters!
It is certainly their right to envision a center like Georges Pompadour ή Gungenheim, but also the right of all of us to comment on it. And I believe that they have seriously studied how to ensure the sustainability of such a structure, which started from a noble vision, but ended up in ruins for the simple reason that the costs were not calculated correctly.
And let's say it was solved miraculously, the cost of construction, Had the maintenance costs been calculated? But, you might say, there is a solution. The municipality should take it on. ΩIt sounds great, and it would be if it weren't for one small detail. That we had a competition here., in which he participated and lost. Everything else that the various apologists for this «solution» imply is just excuses for their sins. The bottom line is that he wanted it almost as a gift! But that was his right. Who Wouldn't he want such a gift? With one detail. That in a competition, neither gifts nor «gifts» are given. If, again, you really want it, you can expropriate it. But, because that costs money, you run around, make a fuss to change its use and get it as a summer fruit on offer. planωδίno!
But we have strayed again. We return to the many lovers of spirit and culture who have come to us. suddenly. Honestly, of those I know, I don't remember anyone or Perhaps, so as not to be unfair to everyone, there are some who actively participate in the cultural life of Kythira and especially of the community in Athens and Piraeus. There, at this moment, three active members are working associations Kythira (Brotherhood, Association, Beautification of Alimos), three cultural associations (Company KythiraStudies, Group Kythira University and K.I.P.A.) with significant activity and contribution to the community.
Of all those who have recently been involved with the Cultural Center and the cultivation of culture there, I have seen very few—if any—at events organized by the above associations and institutions. You might see a few at a dance orif the relationship ends. But also at the summer events of the above associations you rarely meet any of them ….lovers of the spirit who don't have enough space for a 150 m² room όthat will be collected for to serve culture!
As for the books they have donated in Kythira the above associations will probably measured on the fingers of one hand in their libraries, and even those are gifts, and they will gather dust.
You will say again. Κand why, now they must not take action; Of course. If it means damage will be done elsewhere (e.g., institutions, nursing homes), let's start fighting for our long-suffering culture and run. to protest and for Cultural Centers. Not only in Alimos with 4000 square meters, but everywhere. And let's not even pass by afterwards. Let the damage be done.. KAnd for what purpose, really? Culture? But we've already discussed this. And I personally find it difficult to believe that they don't want «apartment buildings» (two or three stories high)., 11 meters high, even if it is the the same exactly terms construction with their houses right next door!). I find it hard to believe that they simply think, «Now that we have built it, let's enjoy more »culture« and make sure we are at the Cultural Center every day, if possible, to spread the word.» there this spirit of friendship and altruism that always sets us apart!
I said. I don't believe the latter is true. Rather, something happened and so many people changed. completely suddenly and made a turn at ……Culture. Perhaps some spraying is also to blame. Who He knows!
