Implemented from Saturday the new framework for relaxing restrictions, which, as the government has indicated, was deemed necessary to address the consequences on the economy and the fatigue of citizens from the ongoing measures.

As of tomorrow, the following will be allowed on a pilot basis inter-municipal travel by vehicle, using code 6 and only for outdoor exercise and up to three people or a family. This is a measure which will only apply at weekends, with the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias to warn that if overcrowding is observed, the possibility of moving from municipality to municipality will be removed.

Retail opening on Monday

The new mix of measures includes opening of retail trade from next Monday with the method of remote ordering of products and their receipt outside the store (click away) or with appointment to visit the shop (click in shop).

Specifically, shops - with the exception of shopping centres - will be reopened using the click away and click in shop method, and will be open to the public by sending sms to 13032 once with a time limit of three hours.

Each shop will be allowed to presence of one customer per 25 sq.m. with a maximum of 20 customers.

Possible reopening of schools will be assessed next week with a view to «opening» some classes from 12 April and using the tests. Next week the issue of the operation of shopping centres will also be reassessed.

The aim of this new mix of measures, it is stressed, is to give citizens small «breathes of freedom» that will lead to better implementation of the measures.

Mandatory coronavirus tests

Recall that on Wednesday, in the bill with urgent measures for the pandemic, amendment tabled amendment which inter alia provides for mandatory diagnostic tests for coronavirus.

According to the amendment, if there is still a risk to public health from the spread of coronavirus, a ministerial decision may specify, as a prerequisite for coming to the place of work, the prior finding, after a diagnostic test for coronavirus, that the employee has not tested positive in a diagnostic test.

This obligation may be imposed on workers employed in particular in the retail, catering, tourism, manufacturing and transport sectors and in all types of educational establishments, as well as on judicial officers and judicial officials.
