Press release for the anniversary event in the courtyard of the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens, on the occasion of the 200 years since the Greek Revolution, issued by the Kythira Association of Athens, as a member of the Seven Islands Confederation.
The statement reads:
«On Thursday 30 September 2021, in the courtyard of the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens, the Heptanese Confederation, held its second event in a row, as part of the anniversary of the 200th anniversary of the National Uprising of 1821, under the auspices of the «Greece 2021» committee.
Through a series of speeches, accompanied by visual material from monuments, works of art and documents of the period of the Greek Revolution, unknown to the general public aspects of the fighting action of the Ionian people and their decisive contribution to the positive outcome of the Struggle for the Regeneration of the Nation were unfolded.

Greeting on behalf of the Ionian Confederation, addressed the Vice President of the Board Mr. Mr. Dimas Ioannis and on behalf of the State, greeting sent the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Mr. Eleftherios Avgenakis.
The event was moderated by Mrs. Evangelia Delaporta, member of the Ionian Confederation.
Among others, we were honored with their presence, the representative of the New Democracy. Mr. Gerasimos Panagiotatos - Tzakis, representatives of Cultural Bodies and Associations.
The Ionian Confederation, through its action, always aims to highlight the important contribution of the Ionian Islands in the liberation struggles of the Nation in every historical period, but also in the creation of the newly established Greek Nation and its new cultural identity after the Ottoman rule, up to modern Greece.
