The new laboratory-confirmed cases of covid-19, recorded in the last 24 hours by the EODY, are 3,273, of which 28 were detected following checks at the country's entry gates. The total number of cases is 570,077 (daily change +0.6%), of which 51.1% are males. Based on the confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 192 are considered to be associated with travel from abroad and 1,912 are associated with an already known case. The Rt for the territory based on cases is estimated at 1.05.
The number of hospitalized intubated patients is 332 (58.4% men). Their median age is 65 years. 84.3% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,936 patients have been discharged from ICUs. The admissions of new Covid-19 patients to hospitals in the territory are 259 (daily change -11.6%). The seven-day average admission rate is 267 patients. The median age of cases is 39 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 42, with a total of 13,509 deaths recorded since the start of the epidemic. 95.3% had underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.
Samples that have been tested: From 1 January 2020 to date, a total of 6,133,835 clinical specimens have been tested in laboratories that perform testing for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and that systematically report the total number of specimens they test, while 8,859,569 specimens have been tested by Health Units and HOSPITF Rapid Ag testing teams. The seven-day average is 91,991 sample checks.
Self-tests: by 24 August 2021, 32,403,281 self-diagnostic test result declarations have been recorded electronically. Of the 1,094,215 people who have come forward for retesting, 85,424 positive results have been recorded.
Massive Sampling of EODY: On 24 August 2021, 140 sampling actions were carried out by the EODY's Mobile Health Teams (MHSTs), in which 30,748 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 711 positives (2,31%) were detected.
