Cutting of the New Year's Cake and Award Ceremony for New Students by the Kythira Brotherhood of Piraeus – Athens

On Friday, January 12, the association's New Year's cake was cut and commendations were awarded to those who had been accepted into higher education institutions.

The event began with the cutting of the New Year's cake, followed by the now traditional award ceremony organized by the Kythirian Brotherhood for young people from Kythira and Antikythira who were accepted into the country's higher education institutions during the academic23-24 academic year from the Lyceum of Kythira and anywhere else.

Ms. Eleftheria Masselou, a student and member of the association, presented and coordinated the awarding of congratulatory commendations and a symbolic gift. All the names of the successful candidates were announced, regardless of whether they attended the event or not, and for those who were not present, the gifts were kept to be delivered to them at the earliest opportunity.

The event was honored by the presence of many members of the association, as well as the Deputy Mayor of Piraeus, Mr. D. Karydis, the head of relations with associations and institutions of the Municipality of Kythira, Mr. G. Kasimatis, the Deputy Mayor for Finance and Tourism of the Municipality of Kythira, Mr. G. Stratigos, the Vice-President of the Trifyllio Foundation of Kythira, Mr. G. Nikiforakis, the President of the Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development, Mr. G. Kasimatis, the President of the Kythira Studies Society, Ms. K. Aroni-Tsichli, the representative of the Kythira Association of Athens, Mr. K. Petrocheilos, the President of the Union of Antikythirians Abroad «Agios Myron,» Mr. G. Konstantinou, the President of the Cultural and Beautification Association of the Kythira Area of Alimos, Ms. N. Fatsas.

Everyone gave a brief greeting, wished the new students a happy new year and academic success, and offered them praise.
This was followed by a small reception where friends and members of the association had the opportunity to exchange greetings, the young people got to know each other, and we all agreed to meet again at the next gathering.
