For the second consecutive day, the country is being battered by a powerful heatwave, with temperatures climbing locally to 41 degrees Celsius. According to forecasts by the National Meteorological Service and estimates by meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis, the heatwave will peak on Tuesday and Wednesday, with maximum temperatures reaching 42°C in some areas.
Where will the thermometer hit red?
The following areas are expected to be particularly affected by high temperatures:
- Thessaly: 40–41°C
- Eastern Sterea, Euboea, Eastern Peloponnese: 39–41°C
- Attica: 38–39°C
- Central Macedonia: 40–41°C
- Eastern Aegean Islands: up to 38–39°C

According to the National Meteorological Service, the weather will remain generally clear, with increased sunshine and intense heat in the Ionian Sea, mainland Greece, and the eastern Greek islands. Unstable conditions with showers are expected only locally, mainly in the late afternoon in the northwestern mountains.
Protective measures and recommendations
The authorities recommend increased caution, especially for vulnerable groups, as conditions are conducive to heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Citizens are advised to avoid exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day, drink plenty of water, wear light-colored clothing, and use cooling measures.
With the heatwave set to peak over the next two days, civil protection services are on high alert, while municipalities and regions across the country have announced that air-conditioned halls will be open to accommodate citizens.
The phenomena are expected to begin to subside on Thursday, with a drop in temperature and stronger winds, mainly in the west and north.
