The government is promoting vaccination for children aged 12-15, with the launch of this platform scheduled for August.
In statements to SKAI, the Minister of Health said that «the administration of the vaccine to children aged 12-15 has been approved and the method of entering the platform will be announced immediately, in August. Parents decide whether to vaccinate their children.
At the same time, Mr. Kikilias spoke optimistically about vaccination coverage for the 15-17 age group, as “a total of 30,000 appointments have been scheduled out of 300,000. As we approach the start of the school year, this number will increase further.”.
The Minister of Health also spoke about the aggressiveness of Delta mutation, which now prevails throughout the country, at a rate of 75%-80% and in tourist destinations up to 90%, sounding the alarm for people belonging to vulnerable groups.
The National Health System endured and will endure
“The National Health System has endured and will continue to endure. We are getting vaccinated so that the NHS can focus its efforts on other diseases. As human beings, we must all remember that there are fellow citizens who are suffering from cancer or other serious illnesses,” the Minister noted.
He added that “There has been an increase in the number of vaccinated healthcare workers. The Prime Minister has not mentioned extending mandatory vaccination to other professional groups. Recently, I have seen an increase in the number of vaccinated doctors and nurses.”.
