A centre for the world promotion of Kythera, or apartments...?;

The donated, since the year 2004, by the no. 1.621/2004, donation contract under the notary Mrs. Dragatsis, from the Kythirians residents of Alimos, to the Trifyllio Foundation, of a surface of 3.500,00 sq.m., with a building of more than 1.500,00 sq.m., is located alongside the magnificent Holy Church of Myrtidiotissa in Alimos, and at a minimum distance from the Hellenikon investment.

The residents of Alimos, Kythira, designed it, dreamed it, built it and donated it, from their own savings, to the Trifyllion Foundation, exclusively and only on the condition that the Foundation will complete the Cultural Centre, within which will operate an amphitheatre, an event hall, a folklore museum, a reading room, a library, a youth centre - students' centre, a nursing home, as a place of social offer and cultural activity.

Its completion and operation as a Spiritual Centre will be a bridge between Kythera and the whole of Athens and a beacon for the promotion of the beautiful island of Tsirigos, in Attica and throughout the world. As the property is located at a short distance from the largest tourist investment ever made in Greece, the investment of Elliniko, let us consider what this will mean for the tourist promotion of Kythera ......

And while we all, until a few months ago, were longing for the start of its completion and operation, late, and contrary to the above declarations, the local community is informed that instead of a Spiritual Centre, the building will be demolished and the property will be given in exchange for the construction of four more apartment buildings.....

The construction of apartments instead of a cultural space, apartments instead of a spiritual centre, runs up against some objective truths:

• On the plot, there is already an unfinished building, with an area of more than 1.500,00 sq.m, in the masonry stage, in excellent structural condition, erected only 25 years ago. The cost and completion time is minimal, so that in a few months the space can be opened.
• The Trifyllion Foundation does not have to give, literally, a single euro  for the completion of the building, as for the completion of the construction of the Cultural Centre, under the same contract, five other adjacent plots of land, with a surface area of more than 300,00 sq.m. each, worth at least € 2.500.000,00.
• The Trifyllion Foundation, not only will not give a single euro, but will have a profit, direct  from the operation of a multi-purpose cultural space and indirect from the promotion of the island, both in Alimos, Attica and worldwide.
• With the construction of apartment buildings, Trifyllion not only does not gain, but also suffers. The lion's share, i.e. the 65%, goes to the developer - builder, while the Foundation is left with a few apartments of unknown surface area and value, as the contractor's contract with the developer is still unknown. On the contrary, with the completion of the Cultural Centre, the Foundation will retain full and exclusive ownership of a plot of land of 3,500.00 sq.m., and a newly completed cultural multi-purpose hall, with a surface area of over 1,500.00 sq.m., with corresponding revenues. Which of the two options is more advantageous ..... ? ;
• No benefit will accrue to the residents of the area from the construction of four apartment buildings and 48 apartments. What benefit will residents have, apart from extra traffic, noise pollution, litter, parking - mobility problems, and a general deterioration of their standard of living and quality of life ....? ;
• Similarly no profit will not have nor the Kythiria Recreational Association of the area, from the construction of apartment buildings. Pursuant to the provisions of Articles No. 124685/2021 & 73820/2022 decisions of the Ministry of Finance, of the whole property, will be allocated for use, an office up to 150 sq.m. to the Building Association only, which has ceased to exist. Therefore, and in the absence of the Building Cooperative, from a property of 3.5 acres, both the Recreational Association, the Kytherians and the residents will get nothing ....
• The operation of the Kythera Nursing Home is not affected in the least. This property was never given, as stated in the donation, for the operation of the Home for the Aged. The Trifillion Foundation carries movable and immovable property, which could cover not only the operation of the Nursing Home, but also many other charitable activities. If the huge real estate of the Trifyllio is not used, it means that the new apartments it seeks to acquire will not be used either. So, why , the assignment of the property to a developer ...... ;;;;
• No one is deprived of his property, nor is there any attempt to allegedly usurp the space, as the property remains the full and exclusive property of the Trifyllion Foundation.
• The community of Alimousia Kytheria is a fist, where disputes and artificial hatreds do not fit. The Municipality of Alimos embraced, since 1950, the first Kytherians who came to the area, while our Municipalities, Alimos and Kythera, are twinned. Our Municipality is doing the same now, through our Mayor, Mr. Andris Kondylis, assisting, in every way, in the just struggle of the residents.
• The demand of all Kytherians and Alimiotes, in favour of the Spiritual Centre, not only does not go against the Triphyleion Foundation, but serves its statutory public benefit purposes, whom we honour and respect.

Our brothers and sisters, Kytherians,

Without any expense, not even a single euro, you can have an international pole of promotion and promotion of your island, your history, your place, your economy and your tourism, next to the biggest tourist investment in Greece. Do not cancel all this by allowing four more apartment blocks to be built.

Recently, the Municipal Council of Alimos Municipality decided to take legal action in order to preserve the property as a cultural centre, supporting the just struggle of the residents. After considering all the above, let us prefer to be remembered by future generations, instead of being judged by the Courts .....

Besides, just two years ago, we all publicly announced the imminent start of the completion of the Cultural Centre. The Mayor of Kythera, Mr. E.Harhalakis, in 2021, at the twinning of our municipalities, declared «theThe Cultural Centre of Kytheria, together with the Church and the Music School, will be a tangible proof of the social and cultural contribution of Kytheria in the region and will be an example of cooperation and understanding between the two Municipalities, which are officially twinned from today. I hope we are all well and that we will be together at the inauguration». What has changed, to cancel all the above ..... ? ;
