Saturday 9 August. Disorder is prevailing in Kapsali as incidents of minor accidents increase due to illegal parking in the grove. Since the afternoon of the previous day, six incidents of road accidents have been recorded as reported by local resident George Samios, with most drivers losing the bumpers of their vehicles due to the hidden stones in the lewd grass and dirt. According to Samios, the situation has reached the point where a crane intervention was required to extricate a new BMW that was trapped on a pine root, as the situation made it impossible to remove the vehicle independently.
Also, on the coastal road (cobblestone), there is concern about the overhanging palm tree roots that have taken over the roadway. The result is causing damage to vehicle bumpers as the roots remain overhanging and higher than the pavement, as shown in the photos provided by Mr. Samio.
Mr Samios called on the competent authorities to take immediate action to tackle the problem in order to avoid further damage to vehicles and possibly serious accidents. Local residents expect decisive action to ensure safety and better road behaviour in Kapsali. See photos below.
