The Mixed Jury Court does not recognise any mitigating circumstances for Dimitris Lignadis.
The court unanimously ruled to reject the mitigating factor of good behavior and by a 5-2 majority of good behavior after the act, which had been requested earlier by the defense of the actor who was found guilty of two acts of rape and not guilty of two others.
On the sentences, the prosecutor asked for a 12-year sentence for each act of rape.
It should be noted that the maximum penalty is 15 years, while the minimum penalty is 5 years imprisonment.
The court will announce in a few hours its decision on the sentences to be imposed for each act of rape that the actor was found guilty of.
Dimitris Lignadis: The director is guilty of two rapes
Dimitris Lignadis was found guilty of two rapes by the Joint Jury Court.
The President of the Court Panagiota Yioupi announced the verdict of the judges, who by a majority declared the former head of the National Theatre guilty of two of the four acts of sexual violence attributed to him. According to the verdict, Dimitris Lignadis was found not guilty by a 5-2 majority for the first of the rapes of minors attributed to him with the time of the act in 2011; he was also unanimously found not guilty for the 2018 rape of the adult, who did not come to court to testify.
The court found Dimitris Lignadis guilty by a majority of 4-3, for an act of rape against a minor allegedly committed in 2015. The minority for this act, which was the presiding judge, a juror and a judge, was of the opinion that he should be found not guilty due to doubts.
