The police also issued a statement regarding the situation on the roads:
«Due to adverse weather conditions in the Attica region and in order to avoid additional traffic problems, drivers traveling on roads covered with snow or ice are requested to to put snow chains or other similar anti-skid devices on at least two drive wheels if their vehicle doesn't have special tires (snow tires).».
At the same time, the Civil Protection mechanism is also on full alert. Citizens are urged to avoid all non-essential travel.
Minister Stylianidis stressed that all agencies will be on full alert day and night throughout the duration of the phenomena and emphasized that the entire mechanism, on full alert, will do everything possible to keep the country functioning and to resolve any problems caused by bad weather as quickly as possible.
