The National Open Internet Regulation has put into effect as of Wednesday, 25/11/20, the new provisions for the gears on fixed networks, as announced by National Telecommunications and Postal Commission (EETT).
According to these rules, fixed access network providers are obliged to inform subscribers (prospective and existing) about variations in internet connection speed. The information will be provided both in shops and on the provider's website or telephone helplines.
In case of continuous or repeated negative deviations from the minimum speed, the subscriber reserves the right to compensation.
Examples of possible reparations ή compensation is the discount on the bill, the possibility to choose a package with a lower nominal speed, the refund of part or all of the fixed price, or a combination of these. In case of deviations greater than 30% for ADSL networks and 20% for the other technologies (e.g. VDSL, Fiber To The Home-FTTH) from the price of the minimum speed for which the subscriber was informed, the subscriber also acquires the right to unclaimed complaint of the contract, if the problem is not corrected within 30 days (with the exception of the subscriber's obligations to pay any remaining subsidy for devices or terminal equipment or network connection construction).
The submission complaints by subscribers for deviations from the minimum speed, will be made through the customer service of each company and will initiate a complaint verification procedure, which may include the taking of measurements by the subscribers, based on the measurement tools provided by each company/provider. Providers will also update the prices of connection speeds at least once a year and subscribers will have the right to terminate the contract if the speeds already provided are downgraded.
In addition, there will be personalized information to existing subscribers for the Changes the terms of the contract, through their account or by SMS or e-mail.
