In a statement posted on his personal Facebook account, the Deputy Mayor of Kythera George Stratikos responds to what concerns him regarding the accusations he received from the head of the Minor Opposition Zacharias Souris. Read below:
Mr Souris and «TRUTH»
It could be the title from an Aesop's fable, but unfortunately it is not.
After reading the latest press release of Mr.Souris« faction titled »Phanfares, Lies and Mud« I will not dwell on the issues for which the mayor has already detailed his position. Besides, I believe that people »do not eat fodder" so there is no point in rehashing the same old stuff.
However, we will dwell on the TRUTH and how it is reflected in Mr.Souris' political speech and ethos.
With this Press Release, Mr.Souris, citing the TRUTH, claims that he will continue, based on it, to «reveal the works and days of the Mayor and those who support him».
So let's see how consistent Mr Suris is in what he preaches.
With this press release, Mr.Souris, putting forward the truth (as he understands it), makes the revelation that the Mayor and I as Deputy Mayor are misunderstanding because Circular 1333 is being violated. He characteristically states: «-With regard to the continued absence of the Deputy Mayor, Mr. General, and the Councillor, Mr. Casimatis, he resorts to lies. Does it or does not Circular 1333 (on the obligations of deputy mayors) state that they must «reside in the municipality concerned» and that they «may not be absent more than thirty (30) days in total each year without the permission of the city council»?;
But in the same circular and even in the same line (so it can not have escaped) explicitly stated «with the exception of the deputy mayors of the municipalities of Attica and Thessaloniki».
So this is the truth that Mr Souris and his cohorts preach. And to protect him, let him take note that when the same ordinance states that he may not be absent more than 30 days in total each year without permission of the City Council, it refers to absence from his duties, not from the territorial district of the City. We also urge him to remember that in the previous municipal term, Mr Sougiannis divided his time between Kythera and Attica, in order to be in contact with public services and to deal with the affairs of the municipality, as has happened before with several councillors.
