In other words, they voted in favor of racist views and behaviors, in favor of indifference towards the poor and disadvantaged, in favor of anti-scientific views (such as on the pandemic or climate change), in favor of divisive and dangerous views. Of course, the main thing Mr. Trump did was to promise them jobs and growth. The issue of growth in particular is something that many in our country avoid talking about, as if growth were a «right-wing» issue.

When the system itself is threatened, they will stop at nothing (even if this may be in line with our own choices as voters). So one issue is that we have been saved from the dangerous Mr. Trump, a second issue is that, in our eyes, the US has already lost its dominant role as a country where individual freedoms «flourish,» where everyone is equal in practice, and which innovates and pioneers in a number of areas.

Leaders are now inadequate (unfortunately, this also applies to Mr. Biden), and there is a lack of spiritual leaders. The only positive aspect is the hope generated by the presence of Vice President Kamala Harris and the creation of some social movements (such as the «I can't breathe”) which, for the first time since the 1960s and 1970s, now enjoy widespread support and acceptance.

For the majority of Greeks, Mr. Trump was a tragic leader. Mr. Biden has made many proclamations, but we shall see... However, the US is deeply wounded, as a leading country in crisis. And when the US catches a cold, the whole world coughs...
