The municipal party Free Kythera comes back with a statement through the «Line of the Citizen», on the occasion of a video sent by a resident and records the situation at the bridge of Makronas.
According to the press release, this is a project that lasted about three years, affecting the daily life of residents of Paleopolis and Avlaimon, but also the overall travel on the island, at a cost -as mentioned- amounted to close to 2 million euros. As noted, just one year after its completion, the first signs of deterioration appear, which the party attributes to long-standing pathologies in the way of implementation and control of public works.
The communication makes a comparison with other technical projects on the island, such as bridges at the River Bypass and in Frilingianika, inviting citizens to draw their own conclusions about the durability and quality of the interventions.
At the same time, «Free Kythera» reiterate their position that a radical change in the administration of the Municipality of Kythera is required, with emphasis on the effective control of the projects, the correct prioritization and the participation of local engineers in their acceptance. As noted, the aim is for public works to be delivered complete, technically and aesthetically sound and durable in time, so that they constitute a developmental legacy and not a risk or burden factor for the finances of the Municipality.
