By decision of the cabinet in France, disbanded on French soil the extreme Turkish nationalist organisation “Grey Wolves”, whose members had recently been involved in attacks against Armenians and vandalism.
The announcement was made via twitter by the French Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, following the cabinet meeting. He said that “the Grey Wolves movement was dissolved during the cabinet meeting, in accordance with the orders of the President of the Republic”, because the organisation “incited discrimination and hatred and had engaged in violent actions”.

The decision was announced on Monday by the Home Secretary, following two demonstrations against the Armenia by people holding Turkish flags on the Lyon and in Grenoble, on the occasion of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Videos of these demonstrations were posted on social media on accounts using Grey Wolf symbols.
Also, the organization “Grey Wolves”, which in the 1970s and 1980s in Turkey was involved in attacks against left-wing citizens and activists, was also implicated in the incidents between the Turkish and Armenian communities in Desin-Sharpier, near Lyon. The war in Nagorno-Karabakh has increased tensions between the two communities in France.
Also over the weekend, according to French media, the monument to the Armenian genocide in 1915 and the National Centre of Armenian Memory near Lyon. The perpetrators wrote the name of the «Grey Wolves» organisation on the monuments.
The “Grey Wolves” is an ultra-nationalist group known to be close to the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who attacked the French president for his decisions to control Islamist organisations in France, questioned his “mental health” Emmanuel Macron, saying that “he needs to see a doctor.”.
