His laptop Lignadi, which was seized with delay by the Hellenic Police, It had been purchased just four days before the director and actor resigned from his position as artistic director of the National Theater, while the circle of accusations about his sickening actions had begun to narrow.
This laptop was first put into operation on February 2, 2021, as evidenced by its serial number and the information provided online by the manufacturer. On the same day, according to the Hellenic Police expert report, an «operating system installation» was detected on the laptop.
This laptop, as revealed by the evidence, has no connection with the one on which Lignadis allegedly showed one of his victims hardcore pornographic material involving minors. The laptop containing the pornographic material involving minors was never found; on the contrary, The one investigated by the police was brand new and unused!
This fact further reinforces the questions raised about the course of the investigation and inquiries conducted by the police authorities to date. In other words, they delayed searching Lignadis's home, cell phone, and computer, giving him ample time to dispose of material that could have been incriminating. It is also striking that even today, the director's social media accounts remain confidential, despite requests from lawyers supporting the prosecution. The reason for this is unknown.
A device that belonged to the box
It was February 2, 2021, when the journalist Elena Akrita, posted a news item about D. Lignadis on her personal Facebook account. According to this, the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, He was rumored to have requested his resignation from the position of artistic director of the National Theater. As expected, there was an uproar both in the theater world and on social media. This was especially true since the rumors had begun in late January and concerned a person directly connected to the prime minister's circle.
A few hours later, Lignadis issued a statement denying the rumors that he had resigned or been dismissed from his position as artistic director. The Ministry of Culture issued a similar statement shortly thereafter, refuting El. Akrita's report. However, the fire that had been lit was difficult to extinguish.
In addition to issuing a denial, D. Lignadis did something else that day. According to journalistic research, the director, who is currently in custody, activated his personal laptop for the first time. This basically means that it had just been bought, either by him or someone else. So, it was a brand new laptop that hadn't been used before. Let's take a look at what the journalistic investigation found, step by step.
First, we visited the multinational's website, Hewlett Packard. The IT company, based in California, USA, specializes in, among other things, the development and manufacture of computers, data storage, software design, etc. Its website also provides customers with information about the products it has sold and support for them.
If you enter the serial number (unique for each computer) of a laptop, you can automatically find information about the manufacturer's warranty for the product. Entering the serial number that, according to information, was found on Lignadis' confiscated laptop, it emerged that the device's warranty from the manufacturer was activated on February 2, 2021. That was the day he issued the denial statement and four days before he finally resigned after the first rape lawsuit was filed against him.
To corroborate our findings, we consulted an IT market expert (whose details are available to the newspaper). He informed us that the results of typing in the serial number showed that the laptop had been purchased on or shortly before February 2. It is noteworthy that the «type of service» provided by Hewlett Packard on February 2, 2021, referred to «support for initial setup.».
«This support is strictly provided to the first user-owner of the laptop,» according to the technician. «Therefore, this laptop, whether purchased on February 2 or shortly before, was definitely activated for the first time on that day,» he said.
Confirmation from the company
We also contacted Hewlett Packard by phone, pretending to be potential buyers of this particular laptop. During the phone call, we pointed out the results of the search on the company's website based on the serial number and asked what they meant. The response this time was that «the laptop had been activated for the first time on February 2» and was therefore brand new.
When asked whether someone could already have owned it for five years, for example, and use it, then format it and purchase a new warranty, the answer was categorically negative. «The warranty is linked to the first activation and cannot be changed,» were the exact words we heard. In short, The laptop that was confiscated was unused and brand new.
However, the date of activation of the product coincides with the findings of the Hellenic Police laboratory report on Lignadis« confiscated laptop, which was handed over to the 19th regular investigator, Paraskevi Botsi. As revealed by the newspaper »Bam sto Reportage," citing evidence from the expert report, indeed On that day, the laptop was reportedly formatted.. To be precise, according to information from documentonews.gr, the ELAS report states that at 11:30 a.m. on February 2, an «operating system installation» was detected on the device in question.
The computer with the pornographic material
What Documento reveals today raises many questions. It is noteworthy that one of Lignadis« accusers had testified before the authorities that the director had shown him on his computer »pornographic photos of young boys in various sexual encounters with a middle-aged protagonist, which included oral and anal penetration." This is the third consecutive lawsuit filed against D. Lignadis, on March 4, 2021, by a person who claimed to have been raped in March 2018 in the director's apartment.
So the question arises, Where is the director's computer with the pornographic material, given that the one confiscated by the Hellenic Police in Lignadis' apartment was brand new?. Did Lignadis ultimately manage to destroy evidence, realizing that sooner or later he might be investigated and arrested by the authorities? This is something that the preliminary investigation will certainly have to answer, while questions are also being raised as to whether Lignadis should be investigated for possession of child pornography.
They gave him time, they haven't opened social media
The new information brings back to the forefront the initial questions about how both the investigating authorities and the Hellenic Police acted. Specifically, Lignadis was arrested on February 25. Despite the arrest warrant, the police officers were never instructed to conduct a search of the premises. This was also pointed out by police officers in a letter they sent to Giorgos Karaivaz, a police reporter who was alive at the time. The investigation was finally carried out on the orders of the investigating judge a few days later, on March 3. However, it was... flawed. In particular, during the investigation, the police officers were unable to locate a large part of the file and personal belongings of the detained director. For unknown reasons, they did not investigate either the apartment building or the common areas in the actor's home. This happened weeks later, specifically in a second investigation on March 21.
Lignadis' cell phone was also confiscated ten days after his arrest. It is striking that on the day of his arrest, his brother had it in his possession, without any order for immediate search and seizure having been issued. In other cases, this is done at the drop of a hat.
Meanwhile, It is striking that even today, Lignadis' social media accounts, such as Facebook, have not been made public. This is despite the fact that two requests have been filed by the lawyers supporting the prosecution. According to legal sources, this is a significant move in the case, which may lead to further incriminating evidence against the director. Moreover, as alleged victims and witnesses in the case claim, Lignadis often used social media to communicate with them.
He apologized to the investigator and denied everything.
D. Lignadis appeared before the investigating judge on Thursday to answer two new charges of rape brought against him following his remand in custody last February. One charge concerns the rape of a minor seven years ago and the second the rape of an adult man three years ago. Lignadis refused to answer any of the investigator's questions and submitted a written statement. In it, he claimed that he was innocent of the two new charges and asked the judicial officer to place him under electronic surveillance, i.e., house arrest with an ankle bracelet, stating that he would bear the cost of the measure, which is being implemented on a pilot basis in the country.
«We denounced the investigator's bias and refused to answer her questions,» said the defendant's lawyer, Alexis Kougias, regarding the defense proceedings.
The first of the two cases for which he apologized on Thursday concerns the allegations of a 24-year-old man who reported that he was raped twice by D. Lignadis when he was 17 years old. The second case is the one for which a lawsuit was filed on March 4, 2021, in which the plaintiff also accused Lignadis of possessing child pornography.
It should be noted that the director has been in custody since last February for the crime of serial rape of two minors and is being held in Tripoli prison.
