Approximately 465,820 acres are burnt in North Evia by the fires. The calculation was made after processing four high-resolution satellite images from the European satellite Sentinel-2 (images taken on 11/8) by the BEYOND operational unit of the IADET Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
The Observatory also gives an estimate of the uses of the burnt area in the fire-affected region of Evia. As it states, the areas burnt are: forest vegetation 192,700 acres, bushland 99,600 acres, agricultural areas 90,650 acres, grassland 77,720 acres, artificial zones 4,350 acres and areas with sparse vegetation 800 acres.
