The Municipal Hall of Potamos, the recently renovated premises, and the exhibition featuring the Antikythera mechanism were visited today, Sunday, March 12, by the President of the National Observatory of Athens, Professor Manolis Pleiades (Professor of Astronomy in the Department of Physics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and President of the National Observatory of Athens) and the former Minister of Education, Mr. Kostas Gavroglou (Professor Emeritus of History of Science,Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) together with the other members who will present tomorrow's conference in Chora, "The Science of Astronomy through the Centuries," as part of the events marking the 180th anniversary of the founding of the National Observatory of Athens.
The Mayor of Kythira, Mr. Efstratios Charhalakis, together with Deputy Mayors Mr. Panagiotis Zantiotis,Charalambos Sougiannis, and Municipal Councilor Manos Trifyllis, welcomed and guided the distinguished guests through the historic and recently renovated spaces of the Municipal Hall.
