Shame and disgrace

By Stavros Megalokonomos

In response to Mr. Charhalakis’s reply to the statement by Ms. Eleni Megalokonou, principal of the Kythira High School, regarding the canceled event on school grounds, I must point out and express my outrage at the highly dismissive manner in which this so-called «gentleman» responded.

Of course, this comes as no surprise, since this is the way he has learned to behave and respond to anyone who criticizes him or disagrees with him. He considers the Municipality of Kythira literally his own private fiefdom, as if he had inherited it. (I don’t know if he managed to register it with the Land Registry!).

Just from the structure of the document he uses in the official correspondence of the Municipality of Kythira, one can see the boundless egocentrism that drives him. It borders on paranoia. The only thing missing is for him to list the titles of his degrees (just like Lazaridis). Of course, Mr. Charchalakis is a graduate of another renowned college. The well-known South Eastern College of Antikythira. Of international renown and prestige.

The monarch decides and issues orders. He is not accountable to anyone, much less the school principal. And if everything he claims is true, then why doesn’t he have a key to the school building so he can hold whatever event he wants, whenever he wants?;

What are the people around him doing? Are they keeping an eye on him, advising him to behave with respect and decorum? Who is this deputy mayor who’s making phone calls and making demands? Does he perhaps not know how to read or write?;

Reasonable questions for anyone with even a modicum of intelligence.

As a resident of Kythira, I am deeply offended by this uncivil, disrespectful, and disparaging response to Ms. Megalokonou.

Shame and disgrace.

Mr. Charchalakis, you must finally understand that you are OBLIGATED to treat everyone with courtesy, discretion, and respect. You must inform the Board of Directors of any decision you make (even if you consider them caricatures). Understand that you MUST be accountable to the citizens, take orders, and carry them out. These are the fundamental principles of democracy.

P.S. I'm trying to find the coordinates of the «coordinated text!»

Enough is enough. All of us from Kythira are being made a laughingstock.
