Greece-Turkey-USA: The convenient illusions that ignore reality...

After sufficient time had elapsed since the statements Dendia within Turkish territory and the statement of the American President on the Armenian genocide and after the TV celebrations of many «analysts», «internationalists», «turcologists», for the repeated slaps that Turkey receives, it is time to leave the analysis in football terms and stand on the facts.

The attitude of the US was very aptly expressed in the statements of the US Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) General Kenneth F. McKenzie, who, in response to a question from Elaine McCusker of the American Enterprise Institute, on the military capabilities of the Turkey, its operations in the Syria and the Libya and the potential destabilising effects on the region, he said:

«Turkey has legitimate national security concerns related to the Syrian and Iraqi borders. What we are trying to do with Turkey is to maximise the areas where we can find agreement - we can still be friends even if we disagree. There are some areas where we disagree.».

This statement of the American General, comes in addition to a recent analysis of the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), signed by retired US military officers and prominent diplomats.

This study deals with US policy towards Turkey, as well as Turkey-Israel relations.

It is worth noting that JINSA actively supports the positions of the powerful Israeli lobby, influencing US decision centres.

The analysis aims to make recommendations on the US strategy to reduce tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and to set the rules of the energy chessboard in the region.

A key element of the analysis is the promotion of Israel as the only and main factor that can lead to the reduction of tensions and the normalization of Turkey's relations with all the states of the Eastern Mediterranean region and with important states of North Africa and the Middle East.

Regarding Turkey, the JINSA team of analysts:

1. It highlights Turkey's change from an ally of the US and Israel to a country that stands against them.

2. He believes that Erdogan's change of rhetoric is partly due to his government partner Bahçeli.

3. He believes that the return of Turkey to the «fold» and US-Turkey cooperation is beneficial for the US if the insincere attitude of Ertogan and his continuous aggressive behaviour are ended.

4. Proposes the drawing up an action plan in case the Erdogan regime becomes unmanageable.

Regarding the analyst group's recommendations to the Biden Administration, it is noted:

1. The need for the US Administration to consider the possibility of to include Turkey in the energy plans for the Mediterranean.

2. The need to normalize relations between Turkey and Israel under the condition of removing Turkey's support for extremist movements (Muslim Brotherhood).

3. The assessment that the US should stress to key Mediterranean countries, such as Italy and the France, that they have only to gain by cooperating with Turkey.

4. The need active involvement of Germany to reach a new EU-Turkey agreement on the refugee - migration issue.

5. The need further support for Greece - Cyprus.

Turkey-Israel relations

The analyst group notes :

1. Turkey's responsibility for the collapse of its relations with Israel, due to the support of HAMAS and extremist Islamist groups.

2. Israel's contribution to the recent conflict Azerbaijan - Armenia, due to the sale of military equipment (kamikazi drone, electronic warfare systems), which contributed decisively to the successful (for Azerbaijan) outcome.

In conclusion, the JINSA study - analysis confirms once again the view that the US considers Turkey to be very important and will do whatever is necessary to bring it back to the West, where they believe it belongs.

Beyond JINSA's analysis, however, the US position on Turkey's involvement in Libya, a key country for the African continent and the Mediterranean, should be taken into account.

In particular, it should be stressed that indifference-tolerance of America for:

1. The continuous violations of the arms embargo (UN Resolution 1973/2011) from Turkey to the Government of Serraj.

2. The signature of Memorandum of Understanding on the Delimitation of Maritime Jurisdiction, which ignores international law and violates the sovereign rights of Greece.

3. The promotion and retention of a large number of mercenaries paid by Turkey.

It is also worth emphasising that the US does not take a dim view of the presence of Turkish forces in Libya, with the mission of monitoring Russian forces (WAGNER) in the region. It remains to be seen whether they will advocate (unfavourable development).

So, as we can see, things are not simple and in any case require a serious attitude, long-term strategy and strong alliances from our country in order not to turn him into a poor relative for whom everyone will decide.

So a few words and only from those who have to and a lot of work.
