Bishop Seraphim of Kythira and Antikythira was found not guilty after being tried by the Second Three-Member Misdemeanor Court of Piraeus for violating the ban on all divine services in March 2020 due to pandemic measures following a circular from the Holy Synod.
Piraeus Seraphim also testified in defense at the trial. According to information from Kythera.News, when the trial began and the defense attorneys were introduced, the presiding judge said to them, «You are honored by this defense.» The trial ended in 15 minutes. The prosecutor recommended acquittal, while the presiding judge addressed the Metropolitan of Kythira as «Your Eminence.» When the acquittal was announced, the audience applauded.

According to Daily On March 20, 2020, Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythira opened the doors of the Metropolitan Church of the Crucified in Chora, Kythira, and invited the faithful to attend the service for the Salutations, which he performed normally, despite the relevant ban, with the bells ringing and calling the faithful to come to church.
The next day, the Metropolitan appeared at the island's police station and claimed that Ieronymos' circular had not arrived. A case file was opened and he was released.
