Positive data for the course of this week is also positive pandemic in Greece, according to the updated maps showing the epidemiological picture in the Member States of the EU and published the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control (ECDC). Our country is still among the few European countries that have «green» areas.
This is reflected after looking at the data on the combined test, new cases and positivity index for the last two weeks, which means that Greece is still relatively safer than the rest of the EU.
In terms of the positivity index, Greece is all in the “green” while most of Europe remains in the «yellow».
According to the above data, in the whole territory the positivity index is below the 4% alert threshold, unlike the rest of Europe where the index is above 4.
Regarding the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it should be noted that most areas of Greece are now in orange, while Epirus, the Ionian Islands, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and Crete are in yellow, which means they've had fewer cases in the last 14 days.
Last week, part of Central Greece and the Peloponnese were in the yellow and safer colour, but they are now back in “orange”.
To note that most of Europe, according to the maps, is in the orange zone. This means that they have 150 or more cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Those areas that are painted dark red then have 500 or more cases in the same population.
Finally, the maps show that the numbers continue to be not good for the rest of Europe, as several countries such as Portugal and part of France have switched from red to dark red. Which means that these countries have over 500 cases per 100,000 population.
