A 5.5 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Kasos was felt in Crete.

«A »strong" earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in the sea area 63 kilometers northwest of Kasos at 01:25, announced the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) initially reported a magnitude 6 earthquake before revising its estimate to a magnitude 5.4 tremor.

An APE-MPE correspondent reported that the earthquake was particularly noticeable in Crete.

No casualties or damage have been reported.
