The municipal faction responds with strong criticism «All Together, Kythera - Antikythera» in his letter DEDDIE Sparta, for the constant power cuts on the island. The head Zacharias Souris refers to vague and premature answer, which ignores the seriousness of the problem and shifts the responsibility to the citizens. The party calls for direct technical assessment of the network, reinforcement and maintenance plan and information on compensation to those who suffered damage, stressing that «electricity is a social good, not a luxury». The bulletin below:
Response of the head of the company Zacharias Souris to the letter of the DEDDIE Sparta
The municipal faction «All Together, Kythera - Antikythera» strongly protests the response of the DEDDIE Sparta Region (A.P. 319190/25.09.2025) regarding the continuous and unannounced power outages in Kythera, which is characterized by vagueness, lack of self-criticism and a complete lack of understanding of local realities.
In his official response letter to the Deputy Area Director of Sparta, Mr. Aivaliotis, the head of the faction Mr. Zacharias Souris stresses that the position of the DEDDIE, according to which the power outages are «instantaneous and within internationally accepted limits», is pretextual technical justificationwhere underestimates intelligence and patience of the residents.
As stated in the letter, Kythera is experiencing a chronic energy instability problem, which causes actual losses to households and businesses, affects the local economy and creates conditions of insecurity even for vulnerable citizens who depend on medical devices.
Particularly annoying is the reference of DEDDIE that citizens should have the same protection equipment (UPS, voltage stabilizers, etc.), something that the party characterizes reverse liability and institutionally unacceptable attitude by a public administrator who collects fees for the maintenance and security of the network.
Mr Souris calls on the DEDDIE to make directly to a comprehensive technical evaluation of the Kythera network, to make public maintenance and strengthening project plan, and to inform citizens about the compensation procedure those who have suffered damage.
The society of Kythera can no longer accept the repeated power cuts as «normal». Electricity is fundamental social good and not a luxury. The responsibility for the stability, security and quality of supply rests solely with the TEN-T.
The formal letter of reply has been sent to Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE), in PPC S.A., in Consumer Ombudsman, in Municipality of Kythira, as well as in Committee for Domestic Property of Kythira & Antikythira, which has an institutional interest and responsibility for ensuring the smooth operation of infrastructure and public property installations affected by frequent instability of the network.

and why do we pay a shitload of money to the TEN-T if it cannot guarantee the stability of the 99.999 network?
Huh?
