The operation to recover the bodies of the victims of the maritime tragedy that took place near the port of Diakofti in Kythera on Wednesday evening, 05/10, is in full swing since Saturday, 08/10.
Special forces of the coast guard, are attempting by sea to retrieve the dead of the shipwreck, 7 of whom were seen in the first days floating on the surface, among piles of wreckage of the sailboat that carried them and which broke up on the rocks of an inaccessible location, east of the port of Diakofti, due to the gale force winds blowing in the area, the intensity of which reached 10 Beaufort. The exact number of missing persons remains unclear, with the testimonies of those rescued suggesting 8-15 people whose fate is unknown.
