The Kythira we imagined and the Kythira we encountered were ultimately the same place. Kythira has always been an ideal place. Almost utopian. Full of contrasts and perhaps for this reason, a place of harmony. But also of beauty, as according to Hesiod, it is the island where the goddess Aphrodite was born.
Life differently | Kythira, the island of Harmony (Part I)
We began our tour by arriving at the Venetian Castle above Chora, with the best tour guide. Ms. Eleni, full of love and incredible knowledge about her island.
Actors Emilios Cheilakis and Athina Maximou continued the narrative about this island that is not loved, but adored.
Neither of them is from Kythira, but this is their island. The island that fills their memories as a couple every year, filling them with moments of joy, nature, friends, and each other. But behind the relationship they have developed with the island of harmony is Mirella Papaikonomou. The magical pen, which, due to her scripts and television series, spontaneously but so catalytically chose to be set in Kythira, revealed the island's charms and forever enchanted a large artistic circle. And for all of them, Mirella's home is the central gathering place. With Spiros, the island's iconic figure and an expert in sea and land exploration, we will reach the Byzantine castle town of Paleochora, or the Mystras of Kythira, listening to exciting stories and myths.
In Kythira, we found genuine people who form selective bonds and real relationships. And it is this energy that gives the island its unique charm and harmony. In Kythira, we learned that the dream of happiness and joy is delicate. And only if you have peace in your soul can you live your life differently.
