The contemporary dance group Creo Dance Company by Paulina Kremasta after her international premiere at the choreographic center BIRCA - Bækkelund International Residency Center for Artists in Denmark, which took place with the performance Commun in the framework of Bornholm Culture Week, she now returns to Greece to present her new work IN[A]HAVIT in Contemporary Theatre and only for six performances from 1 - 6 June 2022.
The work “IN[A]HAVIT” is a spatial coexistence of the art of dance, stage design and music. It searches for the human condition and habitation through the exploration of the familiar and the play with the uncomfortable. The dancers' bodies are shaped and moulded by the paper river, which flows from a perpetual source of production. They co-construct landscapes and appropriate them.
The pun of the title “in(a)habit” reveals an openness of meaning. “in” (in) defines a place, while “a” (a) implies an ambiguity, leaving room for the “other”. Then the word “habit” (habit) is found free, poetic. In the same way, the action of inhabit (inhabit) appears. The group incorporates it and reassembles in its recesses. To inhabit means to be present, to belong through acts of appropriation. Between bodies and matter, music and sound dwell and inhabit, proposing and opening up invisible ritual landscapes.
Choreographer's note:
«We dancers perceive the world through the body, we inhabit space and time through and through the body. The task was to find that material that unfolds and envelops the bodily state. A material that would not suggest absolute spaces but would co-create spaces and modes with bodies. A kinetic, potential materiality that would transform bodies into creators and at the same time into receivers, listeners, observers. A poetic harmony of processing. This material for us is paper. With its fluid and living sculpture, its conformity and its disobedience, it always leaves a surplus of possibilities, which keep inspiration alert. Choreography, music and set design transform the inanimate into the living, the definite into the multiple and vice versa.»
