Coronavirus: 20,409 new cases, 80 deaths, 664 intubated

There have been 20,409 new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours, 50 of which were detected during checks at the country's entry points. The total number of cases is 1,612,869 (daily change +1.3%), of which 49.9% are men. Based on confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 621 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 2,336 are related to a known case.

There have been 80 new deaths among COVID-19 patients, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic to 21,732. Of these, 95% had underlying conditions and/or were aged 70 or over.

The number of patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation is 664 (59.91% men). Their median age is 65 years. 79.81% have underlying disease and/or are aged 70 years or older. Among the patients receiving intubation, 554 (83.43%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 110 (16.57%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,863 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

There have been 587 new Covid-19 admissions to hospitals across the country (daily change -10.24%). The average number of admissions over the seven-day period is 577 patients.

The median age of cases is 36 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
