The Municipality of Kythira posted a 13-minute video on YouTube presenting the emblematic project of the Sanitary Landfill Site (SLS) on the island, with a budget of €6,300,000.
The project, which was included in the Attica Regional Operational Program and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, was launched by the previous regional administration in 2015 and completed in May 2021.
The restoration of the two former uncontrolled landfills in Kythira and Antikythira has been completed in accordance with national and European regulations, which contributed to the lifting of the €320,000 annual fine that our country was paying to the European Union.
