Without transmitting a signal, it has been moving since Thursday oceanographic «Cesme" oceanographic» for which a Navtex from Turkey valid until 2 March.
The course of the oceanographic «Cesme», unaccompanied, remains unclear as of Thursday afternoon when it sailed from Istanbul in the direction of Aegean Sea and in particular off the Imbru. Given that neither from the Ministry of Turkey nor is anything related to Cesme being reported by the country's media, it is not yet known if the ocean-going vessel is accompanied by a warship.
Although the Turkish Navtex is within international waters, Athens has issued a protest to Ankara as it notes that the issuance of the Navtex from Smyrna station is illegal. Athens is monitoring the Turkish moves but it is not yet certain that the «Cesme» will eventually head towards the area of the new Navtex in the central Aegean Sea.
At the same time, the Greek Foreign Ministry is awaiting Ankara's response to the invitation for the 62nd round of the exploratory contacts. As the Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday, February 18, the invitation is for the first week of March, with Athens awaiting a response.
