The owner of the «Kardasis» store announced his decision to hand over the keys to his store, responding to the minister's attempt to alleviate the tragic situation in which the catering sector finds itself.
In fact, he sent instructions in an envelope... to the minister. These included the alarm code and... the secret of the restaurant's two specialties, Thessaloniki-style tripe soup and, of course, cuttlefish stew.
Today, Tuesday, February 2, the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis He tried to defuse the reaction to his statement by saying it was «verbal hyperbole.».

Dear Minister of Development,
My name is Dimitrios Thessalonikis and I am the owner of the restaurant «Kardasis.».
Following your statements yesterday on a television panel, I would like to inform you that the keys to my business have been sent to you in an envelope with the following instructions:
1. The alarm code for entering my store. The power may have been cut off because the Public Power Corporation is still cutting off electricity to closed stores!
2. In the pantry with the dry food products, please check the dates, because some of them have expired 10 months ago! Throw them away anyway. I have already destroyed many and given away many this year! I estimate it to be around 10,000 euros.
3. I'll leave you the keys to the first drawer of my small office desk, where I keep all the bills for water, gas, telephone, electricity, AEPI, municipal fees, safety technician, tax installments, IKA, loans, urban planning fines, accountant, chamber of commerce subscriptions, security, order taking program, and some others I can't remember!
4. Also, the small key with the code I mentioned opens the safety deposit box, which is empty, as you understand, but you will definitely need it, given your confidence in the adequacy of state benefits to date!
5. At the end of each month, all six people who have been working in my store for 20 years come in for extra assistance, as they are unable to cover their fixed expenses with €534. They are exceptional family men. In the last two months, I have been unable to help them. I believe that you will certainly be able to do better than me!
6. There is also an extrajudicial letter for the store from the owner, because the lease has expired and he refuses to extend it for a year. As you can understand, with the 2,000 refundable that I received 5 times, I was unable to pay him the debts from 60% of the amount that I owed him, plus one regular October rent, and now he wants to throw you out!
7. Please disregard any personal loan and expense documents that I was unable to settle, even though I borrowed from relatives to support myself and my family, because the government did not take into account any amount for us entrepreneurs!
8. Finally, I will share with you the secret of the two specialties of the Thessaloniki restaurant: patsa and, of course, cuttlefish stew. Be careful with the stew!!! You will need plenty of onions, which will add to the load of tears you already have. Of course, we hope that you will continue to use the key ingredient in our recipes, which is love, and based on what you have said, we believe that you are well aware of this. Of course, if you can't manage it, you can seek advice from colleagues/advisors and the other nine ministries that legislate for us—with foreign degrees, of course—without us!
