The plenary of the European Parliament voted - in its resolution - in favour of waiver of the immunity of Ioannis Lagoux. The results of the vote, which took place on Monday afternoon, 26/04, were announced on Tuesday morning, 27/04.
It is recalled that the Three-Member Court of Appeal for Criminal Cases decided on 7 October 2020 to condemn the criminal organisation Golden Dawn, including MEP Yannis Lagos, refusing to give a suspensive effect to the execution of his sentence.
Specifically, on 13 September 2019, he was sentenced to eight months' suspended imprisonment for the attack on the Synergy social space in 2013, while on 7 October 2020 he was convicted for his activity with Golden Dawn and charged with setting up a criminal organisation. He was given a sentence of 13 years and 8 months in prison without parole.
He had fled the day of the decision on the Brussels the seat of the European Parliament to avoid being arrested by the Greek authorities.
The other Golden Eagle who was convicted and still hasn't ended up in prison, Christos Pappas, still wanted.
