The Austrian actor Christoph Waltz (Christoph Waltz) will play the Hollywood legend, Billy Wilder (Billy Wilder) in a new film from producer Jeremy Thomas, titled Billy Wilder & Me.
Based on the book by Jonathan Coe and adapted by Christopher Hampton, it captures on the big screen «the icon of Hollywood's golden age» under the direction of Stephen Frears (Stephen Frears).
According to the official synopsis of the film, in the summer of 1977, a young woman starts working for the famous director Billy Wilder and his screenwriter Iz Diamond on the set of «Fedora» on a Greek island. She then follows Wilder to Germany for the filming of the movie and there she finds herself sharing a trip down memory lane with him into the heart of his family history.
Christopher Hampton pointed out that: «Jonathan Coe's wonderful novel provided the perfect opportunity to express my gratitude and admiration for one of the undisputed giants of film history.».
The film is co-produced by Reinhard Brundig and Christos V. The filming will start in spring 2023 in Greece, Munich and Paris, according to variety.
