Archondo has just opened its doors to the River and put on its festive clothes. On Friday 29 and 30 July you are invited to try her products.
Archondo is a mythical woman, who combines in one person all the women we grew up next to, lived next to as children and taught me a lot. It took shape as an ode to grandmothers, mothers and all the women who laid the foundations of taste and hospitality, as far as our memory goes. It came to bring to life the finesse and detail in the fillets and utensils that made up the welcome, the serving, the habits of each household and their imaginative women.
Homemade goodies, created according to the season, secret recipes of sweets and cherries, which made up the palette of tastes that guests and relatives tasted at celebrations and feasts.
Times when sweets and flavors had a continuity, following the recipes of grandmother's notes, composing amazing taste memories.
So this summer you will find us at our physical store in Potamos, one of the largest villages of the island of Kythera, with its imposing mansions, romantic courtyards and historical cultural cradle of the island. The shop area is the lobby of a mansion house, with traditional furniture and objects, period frames and works of famous painters, family souvenirs, period brochures, etc.
You can taste jams and spoon sweets of fresh fruit, products of the Kythira land and the Peloponnese. Collectible ceramics and coffee serving utensils. Shop for honey, rock salt, selected wine labels and spirits from Greek vineyards and the famous treats and goodies you would find in a mansion on the island. Everything that makes up the first treat to a visitor.
The aim is to bring the flavours, objects and images of another era, based on tradition and its memories, to take us to the continuation of today.
