Fierce was the response of the Governor of Kythera Hospital, Mr. George Megalokonomou, to the PDEDIN and personally to the President of the Federation Mr. Michael Giannakos and the Secretary General Mr. Christos Papanastasis, after the Federation's complaint about his interference in the operation of the Hospital Employees' Union.
In his letter-response, which was communicated to both the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis and the Governor of the 2nd Health Region Mr. Christos Roilos, Mr. Megalokonomos categorically rejects the complaints, referring to «inaccuracies, lies and arbitrary conclusions» on the part of the PDEDN. Below is the letter of Mr. Megalokonomou.

Your letter to the Minister of Health Mr. Adonis Georgiades with No. Prot. 2740/21/2/2025 in which with inaccuracies, lies and completely arbitrary conclusions you criticize the way I exercise my duties. In order not to leave the slightest doubt and shadow about this, I am obliged to inform you of the following.
I have the great honor to serve the General Hospital of Kythiron Trifylleio, from the position of Governor for a total of 15 years (perhaps the longest tenure of a hospital Governor in Greece). I am the Governor who during his tenure has achieved great work as the vast majority of the local community and not only. I have served with the support of the state, Governor with 12 different Ministers of Health, not counting the caretaker and deputy ministers.
I was fortunate to be instrumental in helping to achieve the construction of the new hospital. I was fortunate to plan, operate and guide the modern and promising Health Services of Kythera, which from the small building of 1958 with its rudimentary capabilities, was transferred to the new modern fully equipped one, which is constantly upgraded and strengthened and which islands larger than Kythera do not have.
I feel extremely proud of the way I carry out my duties and with the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the exemplary support and contribution of the staff over the years, I have seen my vision and goals come to fruition.
For all the above I inform you that I am not prepared to tolerate the smear that you are fraudulently attempting with this letter and I will unflinchingly defend my path and my work.
So I make it clear that I did not interfere in any function of the workers' association as you misleadingly claim, but instead I asked to be informed about the authenticity of the press release that was unsigned and published in the local media on purpose. It was slanderous to both the Governor and the operation of the hospital, but more importantly made written and public deliberate use of knowingly inaccurate information. Really since when is it interference in the exercise of my duties as per Article 7(8) of Law 3329/05?;
As far as the intimidation is concerned, you are obviously judging for yourself, since you tried to intimidate me when you called me saying that you have not yet dealt with the hospital by issuing announcements. What exactly did you mean by that?;
You also falsely state that I gave the data to a patient's relatives. The request was the patient's own, which while you are aware of it as evidenced by your letter, you are withholding it to create an impression.
For all of the above, I CALL and CHALLENGE you, if you claim that I acted illegally and leaked personal data without a prosecutor's order, to go to the courts to prove your allegations, instead of going to the Minister of Health to reprimand me.
If you do not do so, you are just common sycophants and your letter is nothing more than part of a plan to serve trade union and other agendas that I can reveal with evidence. In defending my honour and reputation I reserve my legal right to do so.
