City Council Member Nikolaos Magoulas announced his departure from the «All Together Kythira–Antikythira» municipal faction in an official statement, addressing the President of the Kythira Municipal Council and notifying the Mayor’s office and the other municipal factions of his decision. The statement follows:

Declaration of Independence by a City Council Member Nicholas Mugula
Out of a sense of responsibility toward my fellow citizens, guided by my moral values, and deeply troubled by the toxic political confrontation that has gripped our islands in recent months, I hereby declare my independence from the municipal political group «ALL TOGETHER KYTHIRA – ANTIKYTHIRA,» led by Zacharias Souris.
This decision came after a long period of reflection and evaluation of the course taken to date by the political faction to which I belonged until recently and of which I was one of the founding members. Unfortunately, the party has strayed from our founding principles and policy statements, while decision-making is often characterized by a lack of consultation and incomprehensible choices, which deeply undermine the trust of the citizens.
As an independent municipal council member, I pledge to continue defending the interests of Kythira and Antikythira in every way possible.
I am committed to always standing by the citizens, giving voice to their concerns and anxieties.
I am well aware of the challenges and needs of our region, and I will continue to fight for a better future for our islands.
My goal is to contribute in the future to a new proposal for the administration of our municipality—one that will meet the real needs of our citizens, free from partisan dictates and obligations, and based on a plan, vision, cooperation, and respect for the environment.
