The Freedom Pass platform for the €150 prepaid card opens today

The platform opens today, Tuesday 20 July freedom pass for financial support of EUR 150 to young people aged 18-24 who will get vaccinated, from the first dose of the vaccine. As stated by the Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, on the radio station Parapolitika Fm, «young people will be able to enter the gov.gr to make their application with the codes taxitsnet. In case someone does not have codes, they will have to go to the KEP. From then on, the banking institution will contact the citizen directly within two days and give them the prepaid debit card, which will target specific categories of expenditure, such as tourism and culture».

Regarding the government's initiative to give the prepaid card of 150 euros from the first instalment of the vaccine, the minister commented that «sometimes speed plays a role when you give an incentive, while we also have confidence in young people and we know, seeing the statistics, that those who choose to make the first installment, will make the second». Pierrakakis stressed that the number of young people aged 18-24 who have made an appointment since the announcement of this incentive has doubled and now reach 125,000, while since 28 June - when the decision on the freedom pass was announced - a total of 542,000 citizens have made new appointments.

Regarding the system of verification of digital certificates from third countries, the Minister noted that the verification by shop owners can be «done visually, as some certificates do not even have QR. The surprise is the European initiative, that we managed to get all the member states to come up with a common recognition mechanism for the QR-readable certificate.».

Regarding the the possibility of a third dose of vaccine, Mr. Pierrakakis stressed that «we are ready to meet any challenge».

He also mentioned the new platforms that are expected to be available in August. This is a platform jointly with the Ministry of Health, which «is the model for the electronic health record». As the minister explained, the electronic health record will be linked to this system so that everything related to the citizen's health will be in one, single application, and citizens will have single access to all their medical data. In addition to intangible prescriptions, referrals, digital medical certificates and examinations will be added.

Another platform that is being prepared in the near future concerns the land registry, «the digital transfer file will extract the required information». This will give notaries access to more than 17 certificates currently required for a transfer, to immediately reduce the time needed.
