Iranian ballistic missiles were shot down by Greek Patriot missiles in Saudi Arabia.
According to information, the Greek air defence systems were activated after a threat alert and two missiles were launched.
According to an update from the Hellenic Air Force, «the PATRIOT Guided Missile Battery of the Hellenic Air Force of Saudi Arabia shot down 2 ballistic missile targets respectively, in accordance with the applicable Rules of Engagement».

«It is hereby notified that on Thursday 19 March 2026 in the morning hours the PATRIOT Missile Guided Missile Battery of the Hellenic Power of Saudi Arabia (ELDISA), as part of its participation in the mission of the international initiative «IntegratedAir Missile Defense (IAMD) Concept» in support of the air defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , launched 2 missiles and shot down 2 ballistic missile targets respectively, in accordance with the applicable Rules of Engagement. The force continues its mission as normal.
The Dendias statement
«This morning the Greek Patriot missile battery in Saudi Arabia shot down two ballistic missiles from Iran directed at refineries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,» Nikos Dendias said in a statement.
The Minister of National Defence noted that «in this way the Greek battery proves how capable it is and what experience it has gained all this time. But also, indirectly but clearly, it also protects the standard of living of Greek citizens and European citizens».
«The constant increase in the price of oil is a huge threat to the standard of living of Greeks, Europeans, and the inhabitants of the entire planet. The platoon of precision also threatens us and this is also a very big threat and the protection of refineries and oil production units is of enormous importance at this juncture,» he added.
«I would like to congratulate the members of the Armed Forces, the Greek PA in Saudi Arabia for what they have achieved,» he said.
