The families of the victims of the Tempi tragedy reacted with anger and disappointment to the completion of the investigative process, which, as they complain, leaves crucial questions unanswered. The slogan «Life without Oxygen» accompanying their new call for mobilisation, stressing that the justice system has not stood up to the challenge.
The relatives speak of an «immoral and dishonourable» end to the inquest, without scientific answers to the presence of xylene, hydrocarbons and the causes of the deadly pyrosphere. They point out that the case was closed a few hours before the State Laboratory's report was received, which reports the discovery of hazardous substances at 12 sites.
«They could not bear the truth that escaped them,» they note, complaining that the investigation into the illegal cargo never took place. For them, Tempe is not just an accident. «a crime against life, democracy and the country».
Call for nationwide mobilisations
The families call on all citizens to stand by their side. On 6 September organise rallies and marches all over Greece, «wherever the Greek heart beats», as they say.
The September 6 protests are a new milestone in the months-long struggle for the truth in Tempe, with relatives declaring that they will not allow the crime to be buried under the ashes.

THIS is the completion of the interrogation for the crime that shocked Greece and burned our children...
Suddenly, without scientific answers about the presence of xylene, about the causes of the pyrosphere, about everything that JUSTICE HAS TO INVESTIGATE.
Without answering us 2.5 years later «what burned our children alive?» and with no investigation into the illegal cargo!
It closed a few hours before they received the State Laboratory's conclusion !
Not including the finding that talks about xylene and hydrocarbons in 12 more places!!!
They could not bear the truth that escaped them.
There is no longer any expectation that the Institutions and the majority of the media will defend the law. After the latest revelations they have done the expected! They have illegally acted in the most illegitimate and unacceptable way for the society, for the relatives of the victims, for the memory of our dead!
We can only hope that all of us have hope in our fellow citizens. To every parent, to every thinking citizen of this country. To every conscientious journalist and judicial officer, guided by their soul and ethics.
The Tempis is a crime against life, against democracy, against the country.
September 6 we come out into the light!
