A study by Professor Eleni Leontsini on the work of scholars and philosophers of Kythera origin: Christopher Kontoleon, John Cottounius and Bishop Maximos Margounius of Kythera.
«This study presents and critically evaluates the work of three important modern Greek scholars and philosophers of Kythera origin: Christopher Kontoleon, John Cottounius and Bishop Maximos Margounius of Kythera. All three of these scholars were active in Venice during the 16th and 17th centuries, where they developed significant teaching and publishing activity, as well as patriotic activity through the development and strengthening of classical studies and Greek education. In this study I critically present philosophical studies by contemporary modern Greek scholars on the work of the above philosophers in the context of the conference and at the same time I evaluate the philosophical work of the three modern Greek philosophers on moral and political philosophy and the philosophy of religion, which they shaped outside Greece and in the context of renaissance and modern philosophy».
