The prosecutor’s intervention was prompted by the spread of the coronavirus at the rehabilitation center for the elderly in Thermi, following a criminal complaint filed by criminal defense attorney Nikos Dialynas, whose relative—a resident at that facility—lost his battle with the virus on Sunday, November 28, at the Hippocrates Hospital.
The death of the 62-year-old inmate, who was fully vaccinated with all three doses, prompted a response from the Dialynas family, who have filed a criminal complaint against all those responsible, demanding an investigation into any illegal acts or omissions at the nursing home that resulted in the death of their relative.
According to a report by Open, the unfortunate 62-year-old waited 8 hours on a stretcher inside the Hippocrates Hospital, where he ultimately died. «My cousin was staying at a rehabilitation center in Thessaloniki; he had been vaccinated, including with the third dose. On November 23, he was transferred to the Hippocrates Hospital due to COVID-19. Twenty-five people, all elderly, had been infected. Of the 12, 3 were admitted to the COVID ward and then 5 to the ICU,» said attorney Nikos Dialynas.
What concerns the family of the unfortunate man is the fact that he was admitted to Hippokrateio Hospital with a hematocrit level of 15, a fact that raises questions about his state of health. The criminal defense attorney is seeking criminal prosecution and punishment of all those responsible for the offense of negligence that led to the 62-year-old’s death, and is also requesting that the hospital director, the deputy director, the doctor, and any other healthcare professionals who were involved in his cousin’s care.
