On August 19, an event was held in the courtyard of the Kythera Nursing Home to celebrate 50 years of its operation and the awarding of the diploma of honorary president to the 15-year president of the Trifyllion Foundation, Mr. Kalokairinos. The event coincided with the completion of the renovation of 9 rooms of the Nursing Home, which were delivered with modern equipment after generous sponsorships from private individuals and with the contribution of the TRIFYLLEIOUS FOUNDATION. At the same time, the painting of the exterior of the building was completed with donations of paint from local businesses whose offers will be reported in separate announcements later.
Initially, the President of the Foundation, Mr. G.N.Nikiforakis, referred to the history of the foundation of the Nursing Home from the initial donation of the land in Potamos and the financial contribution of the family of the Kasimatis brothers from Tasmania. Subsequently, the General Secretary of the Foundation Mr. N. Glytsos spoke about the benefactors and donors of the Nursing Home and the President of the Local Tax Office Mr. P. Kasimatis-Drymoniatis on the problems of the operation of the Foundations and the actions of the Nursing Home for the residents. The Vice President of the Trifyllion Mr. E. Calligeros limited himself to the offer of the Honorary President Mr. Emm. Kalokairinou, to whom Mr. Glytsos presented the honorary diploma. Mr. Kalokairinos responded excitedly thanking for the honor and was followed by a concert by the Potamos Philharmonic Orchestra and a reception, while the renovated rooms were visited by those who wished to do so. On behalf of the Municipality and the Mayor, Mr. General and closed the events with thanks and greetings by Metropolitan Seraphim.
It is recalled on this occasion that the programme of renovation of the food rooms will continue in a few months with the 2η phase which will involve 10 more rooms. In the meantime, work is already in the completion phase for a fully equipped Medical Clinic and Pharmacy within the premises of the Nursing Home. Details of this project will be made public as soon as these new premises are operational.
