The Port Authority of Perama has arrested four people, following yesterday's industrial accident that occurred in the shipbuilding and repair zone of Perama, which resulted in the death of one person and the serious injury of two others.
It is intended for the master of the ship, the safety technician - supervisor of health and safety measures for workers, the employer of the tow truck operator and the representative of the company carrying out the repair work.
The incident occurred when, during work to extract the fin using a crane vehicle from a ship under repair, it was ejected and disconnected from its transport hook and then fell onto an existing scaffolding where four 04 people were carrying out the work, resulting in the injury of the 47-year-old operator of the crane vehicle and the injury of a 47-year-old and a 43-year-old.
The 47-year-old tow truck operator was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. One of the injured is being treated at the «TZANEIO» hospital and the other at a private hospital.
The Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Theodoros Kliaris was informed about the incident and gave orders for the immediate investigation of the causes and circumstances of the accident.
At the same time, he contacted the relatives of the deceased expressing his warm and sincere condolences and his regret for the incident, while he wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
