Work on Panathinaikos« new football »home« in the Votanikos area is progressing steadily, and the shape of the new home of the »clover" is now beginning to take shape piece by piece.
Just last Monday (22/12), the first grandstand was installed at the new stadium, with the companies responsible for the construction of the new football arena now increasing the number of workers from 250 to 400 in the coming period, so that and complete all the parts of the project related to the «concrete» section in the coming months.
In the coming weeks, one of the two wings (north) will be «raised,» for which the foundation has been completed, while the foundations for the south wing will begin to be laid.
The current plan is to complete the basic construction of the stadium by June 2026 and immediately afterwards begin work on the gradual construction of the roof. This will be «assembled» piece by piece next to the stadium, while at the same time the installation of the shell and the electrical and plumbing work for the new stadium will begin.
As is well known, the final deadline for completion of the new stadium has been set for April or May 2027, with Panathinaikos moving into its new «home» from the 2027/28 season.
Of particular interest is the final capacity of the new stadium in Votanikos, which will reach 39,074 seats. This will be well within the provisions of the Presidential Decree, which specifically refers to a «stadium with up to 40,000 seats.».
The number of seats per «section» of the stadium (with a total of 78 suites) will be distributed as follows:
-East stand: 13,080 spectators. There will be 5,563 seats in the lower tier, 3,114 in the middle tier, and 3,757 in the upper tier. In addition, there will be suites with 646 seats.
-West stand: 12,356 seats. The lower tier will have 5,448 seats, the middle tier 3,074, and the upper tier 3,186. Beyond that, between the second and third tiers, there will be suites with 648 seats, while that area will also accommodate seats for the press gallery and television crews.
-North stand: 6,819 seats. 3,913 seats will be in the lower tier and 2,906 in the upper tier.
-South stand: 6,819 seats. 3,913 seats will be in the lower tier and 2,906 in the upper tier.
