The Young Artists Festival «the 12 Cups», faithful to its annual spring appointment since May 2011, is organized again this year by the Train - Train Theatre in Rouf for the 11th year. Young artistic groups and individual artists create and present every day for a continuous fortnight performances of short duration (10-30 minutes) from the Sunday 15 May up to Sunday 29 May 2022.
In these 11 years, thethe world's only cultural railway festival inspired and established by the Tatiana Lygari, highlighted, encouraged and promoted young artists and groups from the fields of Theatre, Music, Dance and Visual Arts, offering a platform for expression and creativity as well as a trigger for new collaborations to more than 170 talented young groups with a total of more than 700 artists from all forms of Art (Theatre, Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Photography, Cinema, Video-Art, etc.).
The core of the Festival and its source of inspiration was initially the New Wagon of the Train in Rouf with its 12 compartments, from which it took its name. As the number of participating artists and performances increased, every unpredictable, stage and non-stage space of the Carriage was added. This year, in addition to the other venues, the fully equipped outdoor stage now available at the spacious Train Quay in Rouf was added.
About this year's 11η The artistic director of the Festival, Tatiana Lygari, notes:
«The 12 Coupes Young Artists Festival is open to artists from all art forms and can include theatre and music performances, art installations, painting and photography exhibitions, dance performances, stand-up comedy etc. This year the spotlight is mainly on the Theatre with a plethora of short theatre performances but also includes painting and photography exhibitions, dance performances and live music. This year's themes are varied, but mainly shifted to more social and political issues such as racism, refugees, immigration, moral dilemmas in times of war, the search for vindication of the individual against arbitrary actions and less to anthropocentric issues such as the transition from life to death etc. The train, of course, as always, not only as a surrounding space but also as a symbol of movement and journey, is always dominant and is a challenge of inspiration and creativity for the artists.«
