There is absolutely no possibility of a reduction pensions, as the Minister of Labor stated John Vroutsis on Open TV’s «Ora Ellados» program, in light of what is stated in the report Pissaridis. On the contrary, according to the minister, some retirees they will see increase on pensions since early 2021.
«The reduction in pension The expenditure is already being incurred through the current process. The actuarial study, which we have already submitted to the Parliament, shows reduction in pension expenditures, which comes along and restores balance at a certain point in the course of 2020, and this brings things into alignment between contributory pension and national pension. It is the intended reduction in pension expenditures that keeps the system in balance without affecting pensions», said on his Open TV show Minister of Labor, referring to the recommendations in the report Pissaridis for the reduction in pension expenditures.
«While the state pension portion—that is, the 384 euros per month— is paid from the state budget and the contributory pension is paid from the contributions of self-employed professionals and salaried employees, then a complete balance is achieved,» clarified Yannis Vroutsis, adding that this balance will be achieved toward the end of the 2020s.
Then the minister made it clear that there is no possibility of a reduction in the pensions, but on the contrary, there will be increases immediately. «There is no pension cut (planned), but rather a pension increase, which will take effect at the beginning of the new year, in accordance with the changes we made to our social security system, which we’ve made more attractive for those with 30 or more years of coverage. We’ve transformed it from a tax-based system into a true social security system. Those with 30 years or more of coverage, They will see an increase in their pension in early 2021» the minister said characteristically.
