The British minister responsible for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis and Deputy Finance Minister Helen Wattley announced their resignations today, as resignations continue to mount within Boris Johnson’s government.
The Minister of Security has resigned
Security Minister Damian Hinch resigned today, saying that the country needs Prime Minister Boris Johnson to step down so that “restore confidence in our democracy.”.
“More important than any government or leader are the standards we uphold in public life and our commitment to democracy and public administration. Due to the serious erosion of these principles, I have concluded that the right thing for our country and for our party is for you to resign as party leader and as prime minister,” Hinch wrote in his resignation letter addressed to Johnson.
As of yesterday, Wednesday, more than 40 ministers, deputy ministers, and government officials have announced their resignations.
