Ten dead and at least five injured is the sad account of a gunman's attack on a Walmart store in Jessupick, Virginia.
Although authorities have not yet released the name of the perpetrator, it is believed to be the store manager. In any case, unconfirmed information so far suggests that the gunman acted alone.
According to police spokesman Leo Kosinski, 911 was called at 10:12 p.m. When officers arrived at the store they found that «less than 10» people were dead. He did not, however, give an exact number of victims.
Several people have died in a shooting at a Walmart store in Virginia, US police say. Leo Kosinski of Chesapeake Police Department said they believe “there was a single shooter” and that person is dead.

The gunman was also found dead, although it is not known whether he was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot. Kosinski said, however, that «as far as he knows» the officers were not fired upon.
According to the Centara Norfolk General Hospital, five injured are being treated there.
Meanwhile, an employee of the store posted a video online in which he claimed that the perpetrator was the store manager. As he described it, the gunman entered the staff room and started shooting indiscriminately. «Unfortunately we lost a lot of colleagues,» the employee said.

In a statement, Walmart said it was «shocked» by the mass shooting at its store in Chesapeake. It said it is cooperating with police.
Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas said that «it breaks my heart to think that a shooting against the crowd occurred tonight at a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake.».
«I will not rest until we find solutions to end this endemic gun-related violence that has stolen so many lives in our country,’ he said on Twitter.

This is at least the second mass shooting in the country in less than a week. Five people were killed in a shooting at a gay club in Colorado Springs over the weekend.
