The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck at noon on Friday, October 30, in the Aegean Sea in the province of Izmir, Turkey, has risen to 92, according to the latest reportfrom the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The number of injured stands at 994, and since Friday's earthquake, nearly 1,323 aftershocks have been recorded, according to the agency's latest figures.
A total of 43 aftershocks measured more than 4 on the Richter scale.
Speaking today at a press conference in the province of Izmir, Turkish Environment Minister Murat Kurum stated that the earthquake completely destroyed or caused very serious damage to 58 buildings.
